800Link Support Topic - Recording a Greeting

Your Personal Greeting is heard by each caller into your 800Link Voice Mail. You may change your greeting at any time you like and as often as you like.

Instructions

  1. Access your mailbox (click here for instructions).
  2. Choose "Personal Options" (5) from the main menu.
  3. Choose "Change Greeting" (3)
  4. .
  5. Begin recording your greeting at the tone (if you have a previously record greeting, you have the additional option of listening to the current greeting or recording a new greeting).
  6. Press "#" to stop recording
  7. .

Once you have a recording you are happy with, all that is left to do is test it to make sure it is working properly. Hang up and call back in without accessing the mailbox (as any other caller would) and listen to your greeting. If it is satisfactory, you are done.

If you have had a pre-recorded greeting downloaded to your mailbox and now wish to record your own, your greeting can be recorded at any time but it will not begin playing until the downloaded greeting is removed. You can do this yourself online or contact Customer Service.

Helpful Hints

  • Callers may press "#" at any time during your greeting to bypass the greeting and begin recording a message for you. If you would like to make this option known to your callers, you may want to consider explaining this at the beginning of your greeting.
  • Recording a greeting from a cassette tape and other electronic devices can cause your greeting to be cut off prematurely due to amplification of noise and distortion. If you experience this, contact Customer Service for assistance.
