This is a general overview of the services we offer and how they are often used to help you decide what plan is best for your needs. For a side-by-side comparison of the costs and features of the plans, see the Service Comparison page. PersonalOur least expensive service is called the Personal plan. With this service, you get a toll-free number with five four-digit extensions. Each extension is a standalone mailbox that has its own outgoing greeting of up to one hour in length and stores up to one thousand messages from callers. When the toll-free number is dialed, our system answers the call and asks the caller for the extension they wish to reach. Once the extension is entered, the outgoing message assigned to that extension is played and the caller is invited to leave a message. Having more than one extension is useful for marketing efforts in several ways. For multiple advertising campaigns, possibly in different parts of the country or various types of media, the extensions can be used to track the source of the advertising that generated the call. The extensions can be used to set up a menu so that the caller can select from several options or even to advertise unrelated products or services. ProfessionalThe primary difference between the Professional plan and the Personal plan is that you get a toll-free number that does not require an extension. This means when a caller dials the toll-free number, they are not asked for an extension. Rather, the outgoing message begins to play immediately without further input from the caller. Except for the absence of the extension, the number without the extension is functionally identical to the number with the extension. For most applications, it really comes down to personal preference whether to use a number with or without an extension. There are some cases in which it is practical to use a number without an extension simply to minimize the number of digits the caller has to remember, such as with radio, television or roadside advertising where the potential caller has a limited amount of time to take down the number. The Professional plan also comes with up to ten additional extension-type mailboxes. Home OfficeThe Home Office plan comes with a toll-free number without an extension and up to twenty-five additional extension-type mailboxes. Unique features include a toll number without an extension (618 area code) and fax services. There are no per-minute charges for the toll number – the caller pays for the call. This type of number is generally used to replay long recordings, such as conference calls, or to set up a fax on demand service. If the toll number is not needed, it can be swapped for a second toll-free number without an extension.
